Shimmering Nights at Byron View Farm - Byron Bay Weddings - Van Middleton Photography - Honeywed

Gone are the days where winter weddings are unheard of, it’s fast becoming one of the most desirable seasons to get married in Byron Bay. Why? There’s a number of different factors why couples are embracing the winter months from venue availability, the beautiful subtropical temperatures, awe-inspiring sunsets and price.

To set the tone for a magical winter soiree, we brought some of the region’s most sought-after suppliers together to create something truly unique. This styled shoot set at the iconic Byron View Farm features the fullness of colour in winter blooms, from deep ruby reds to blush rose tones, native greenery, grapes and figs, shimmering fairy lights and elegant styling.

Imagine dining on a long banquet table under a fairy light tunnel as the sun sets. Dance into the night and embrace the cooler temperatures with mulled wine and whiskey under dazzling lights, setting the mood for a long evening soiree. The checkered dance floor keeps the atmosphere lively, while the elegant vases and furniture ignites the mood for a sophisticated and romantic evening affair.

Carlie wears clothing supplied by Sphere Collective. Featured is the crystal bodysuit by designer Marilyn Crystelle paired with the Callie skirt by One Day Bridal. Also by One Day Bridal is the Elliot gown. All gowns are simply perfect for a winter wedding.

The styling for this shoot was by the talented team at The Wedding Shed and The Grove Styling. All furniture, decor and props seen can be hired through The Wedding Shed. The incredible fairy light tunnel was designed by Byron Audio. They absolutely love a challenge when it comes to designing a new lighting installation. And the spectacular floral displays were put together by Kelley and Jaala from Bower Botanicals.

Barefoot at Broken Head

At the end of a single stretch of sand, your guests look to the north to the most easterly point of Australia – the Byron Bay Lighthouse. There is salt in the air, eucalypts crowded thick over the hills, and waves rolling in from the point.

After the ceremony, the guests walk a minute over the sand dunes through a simple back gate to reveal the minimal Balinese-inspired masterpiece that is Barefoot at Broken Head.

The huge central living pavilion opens up through accordion doors to the tropical garden and huge decks in which are set four other buildings, where the families and couples that are staying can have perfect privacy when they desire, and huge common areas when they would like to commune.

There are five luxury bedrooms and a separate kitchen and dining area overlooking the pools where you can watch the kids frolic in the 30cm deep reflection pool or dive deep into the 20m lap pool, both set in golden sandstone.

In the days before and after your reception have relatives or friends to stay, ride the bikes along the beach at low tide, or drive 10 minutes into town to enjoy Byron’s restaurants. With the sound of the sea from your bed and a world-class point break a minute from your room – this is the ultimate Australian beach house.

Co-ordinators love weddings at Barefoot at Broken Head because it’s all here – no need to organise a professional kitchen, bathrooms, electricity, decorations, cool room, marquees, public liability insurance, gate attendant, rubbish removal or indoor/outdoor ceremony options. All this is included in the reception fee.
