Julia Rose Wedding Flowers
My Love of Flowers Stems from my Grandmothers Garden, spending hours amongst the Flowers and Herbs. Playing inside of the cavernous branches of the Beautiful Hydrangea, Picking one of my Grandfathers Prized Roses to carry around with me all day.. just enjoy its sweet Perfume, Relocating snails out of the Garden & Worms into the Garden! And most of all being taken to have my Flowers read at the local Church hall, I was amazed that a simple Flower could behold so much knowledge.
I love creating & designing Beautiful Pieces of Floral Art, for Weddings, Sweet & Simple…through to the Spectacular! Creating a Brides Vision of her Special Day. Working with Event coordinators to help bring a Room, Marquee or Simple Area to life, filling it with Flowers helping to create an atmosphere which will relax, be-dazzle, Impress and Evokes Guests senses, Visually or Emotionally through Sweet perfumes.
I also Teach Floral Art at the Gold coast Institute of TAFE, which is just amazing too, I get so much Inspiration from my students & their enthusiasm, their Love of Flowers is contagious. Teaching helps me to stay on top of todays trends. Teaching also helps me to create perfection! There is nothing like a class full of students watching & questioning your every move, for this Reason everything must be done perfectly, or they will have no problem questioning you.
I have worked in the Industry for approx 20 years, starting as a Junior after school. I have certificates & awards too numerous to mention. My designs & works have been appreciated by the rich and famous & been in many publications. I take the utmost pride in my Designs & my Name.
Over the years I have helped to inspire brides by passing on “the seasons’ trends to many publications as well as being a freelance writer for some of Australia’s top Floral Industry Magazines.

Floral & Mineral
Hey there, welcome to Floral & Mineral!
My name is Emma & I love (& constantly dream about) wild, foraged, unstructured & unique flower arrangements that are inspired by what I see in nature. The process of floral design for me begins with collecting seasonal & local blooms are available and then complimenting them with what I stumble across in the hinterland that surrounds me. The design & creating process is so much fun for me & my team, but we also love the process that we go through with you to get to that point.
I have a clear three step process that I take you through to ensure that your wedding is unique, beautiful, well organised (minimising your stress of course) and everything you’ve dream of. Firstly, we meet up over a hottie (hot drink) or Skype and talk about everything you’re dreaming up. We get all of our messy thoughts (yours & mine) down on paper. This is called the “brain spill” & it’s so much fun (& also quite a relief to get it all out)! Secondly, with a fusion of your ideas and mine, I come up with a Visual Proposal (a mood board of 6-10 pages long) that puts all of our crazy, wild ideas into a clear and cohesive vision that you will love (it includes inspirational images, a colour palette, flora recipe ideas and other surprises). Thirdly, once you’re happy with the direction of the flowers, we get down into the nitty gritty details; when and how your flowers will be delivered, ribbon or twine to wrap your bouquet etc. It’s such a fun process & you can be involved as much as you like or as little as you like. Sometimes it’s fun just to say “go for it, Emma!” or sometimes it’s fun to brainstorm together. It’s completely up to you! But whatever you choose, let’s get going now!
Let’s talk soon!
P.S Please note, I am not available for Saturday weddings. If you are after a simple flower wedding, I do have an “ala carte” menu of flowers that you can choose from that can be delivered on Friday. If you’re interested in this, please contact me and I can share the best way forward. Can’t wait!
So, who is beautiflora?
beautiflora’s owner, Britte Mulchay, is Byron Bay’s longest-standing florist… For 17 years, Britte and her team have been delivering the most stunning wedding flowers for many different weddings at all the best wedding locations the Byron Bay region has to offer. From Byron Bay, to Brunswick Heads, to Lennox Heads, to Bangalow, to Newrybar, and all the stunning Byron Bay Hinterland in between, Britte and her team can create your dream wedding flowers. beautiflora now even has a full time retail space in the uber-trendy, artisan collective known as the Newrybar Merchants. The botanical wonderland which is Britte’s shop is certainly worth a look around when you visit the area.
Britte Sunde Mulcahy and her crafty team of busy florists have been creating beauty with botanics since the year 2000. Britte’s passion for all things floral began in her childhood in the Byron Shire’s diverse natural landscapes and subtropical biology. Her career began in Sydney with Saskia Havekes and Grandiflora where she learnt to craft and design nature into works of art.
Moving back to her home town in 2000 was the catalyst for her to start beautiflora and to bring her love and knowledge of flowers to the region. Working from a home studio in the hinterland she quickly became highly sought after as a designer and has an impressive portfolio of work involving events, contracts and now a fresh retail space in the brand new Newrybar Merchants artisan collective.
Her current team of florists are pushing boundaries of floral design and raising the bar both locally and nationally. Head over to beautiflora’s blog to see some of the stunning weddings and shoots she’s done the botanical styling for!
Flowers can be a deeply personal part of the wedding tradition, imbued with much symbolism and personal significance. With this attitude towards flowers, we feel soulful about the arrangements we create and the couples we make them for.
Our name – Bramblehaus – is a homage to the wild bramble roses that frequent European gardens and the German art movement Bauhaus which heralded craftsmanship and simplicity above all – beauty in simplicity and repetition.
Our signature style is sculptural and textured, influenced by the graceful lines and velveteen palette inherent in the flowers and foliage themselves, which we adapt to suit your styling preferences.
We work within the seasons which keeps our aesthetic changing and unique and ensures the best quality Australian-grown flowers, sourcing only the most local and ethical flora for our designs. Our team is experienced in large-scale installations while also bringing a discerning eye to the most simple elopement. We can plan and conceptualise your entire ceremony and reception including our signature floral style.
We can provide plants and flowers as wedding favours/bonbonnieres and our workshops are a gorgeous complement to your pre-wedding celebrations.

The Wedding Scarf
After a chance meeting in 2013 with established Byron Bay artist Anne Leon, the House of Ferguson creators, Pip Rooke and Jane Soutter, took a special interest in one of Anne’s stunning plant-dyeing techniques and The Wedding Scarf was born.
The total brilliance behind this concept is that your very own wedding flowers and foliage are plant dyed onto the finest pure silk satin, pure merino and pashmina fabrics creating exquisite heirloom scarves and permanent memories of the most magical day of your life.
Your beautiful scarves or wraps will be 100% natural, bespoke pieces with every single detail being hand crafted. We can produce several scarves from one wedding bouquet or from a selection of flowers from your special day. The result is a unique heirloom that is truly personal to you and a piece that you and your bridal party can cherish and hand down from generation to generation.
House of Ferguson was born to cherish and nurture this product into the market place, ultimately delivering the exquisite finished heirloom safely into the waiting hands of the discerning purchaser – whether they be Groom, Bridesmaid, Mother, Mother-in law and, of course, the all important Bride.

Big Leaf Boutique
I started my floral career in Mayfair London with Kenneth Turner, and was lucky enough to be involved in the most spectacular events, such as a Moroccan party for The Rolling Stones, Trudi Styler’s birthday party, Ivana Trump’s three month boat party around the Mediterranean, weekly flowers for Elton John and Lady Diana was also a regular customer. A lot of this work involved making props for upcoming events which I really enjoyed.
I moved to Australia where I had my own successful florist in Double bay, Sydney. I found myself getting involved in a lot of window installations, events, functions, corporate parties and weddings. I transformed the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Sydney into a magical winter wonderland wedding theme. I have also worked on various film sets (one being Mission Impossible) installing plants and foliage to enhance the sets.
I made the move with my wife Jo Mills, Owner/Hair and Make-up Artist from Coastal Brides, up to beautiful Byron Bay, where we have a very successful 100-acre tropical flower and foliage farm up in the hinterlands, where we supply to flower markets and florists throughout Australia.
We specialise in tropical flowers and lush green foliage, so why not order all of your flowers and foliage straight from the grower, ensuring the best quality and freshness. Having worked in all aspects of the floral industry and having a wealth of knowledge and experience, I have always been drawn to the big lush tropical plants and foliage and exotic blooms, which I use to create striking contemporary installations.
I also love using unusual materials like sticks, vines from my jungle, rare palm husks, moss, bananas, unusual seedpods, succulents, bamboo, natural wood and drift wood to create eye-catching arrangements or sculptures which can be hired as wedding props.
I designed a Christmas tree for Baz Luhrmann out of sticks, which he said was “the best he had ever seen”. Over the years as well as a grower I have been doing as I do best, which is Installing huge installations in marquees, tipis, halls, and barns, creating tropical hanging gardens, jungles and rain forests.
We also hire a variety of the most stunning and unique plants and my very own designed pots to enhance your wedding venue. I will work with you to develop a unique style for your wedding, better still just let your imagination run wild and let me take care of the rest.
