Hi! I’m Heidi. I've been a marriage celebrant since 2011 all over the Northern Rivers and up into Queensland.
In my previous career I was an Intensive Care Ambulance Paramedic, before working in the medical department of the reality TV show American Survivor, looking after contestants and crew. It was there, in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, that I met my now- husband. We returned after a few years to the Byron Bay area, got married, had a couple of kids, and I decided to become a marriage celebrant! The skills I learned in my previous career that I have transferred to my current career are good listening and communication skills and a genuine care and concern for people.
My friends describe me as warm, down- to- earth, what you see is what you get, reliable and always early for everything! I like the diversity of people I get to meet and working out what is important and not so important to them. I like hearing other people’s stories.
I love dogs and cats, (I haven’t yet had a cat involved in a ceremony, but many dogs!) bushwalking, camping, the beach, reading a good book, and hanging out with my family.
You might want a quick elopement on the beach or a wedding with 500 guests at a fancy venue. You might be like Maria and Brendan and get married in tutus in a park with just 2 witnesses (who are also in tutus). You might be like Josiah and Noelle, married on the beach in a big heart we all made out of beach rocks on the spur of the moment. Or you might be like Karen and Joanne, hiring out a local hall and inviting everyone in town. Perhaps you have 6 bridesmaids and 6 groomsmen and 200 guests with a five course meal at a resort. Or, perhaps like Vanessa and Gavan, you are going to literally take the leap and skydive, getting married upon landing. These are a few examples of the many varied ceremonies I have been lucky enough to officiate at!
Whatever you want, I’d love to hear from you!
