Cass’s proposal to Lara is maybe one of the cutest things we’ve ever heard. While the two were in Uluru, Cass popped the question on the back of a Harley Davidson Trike at sunset. Um, hello, does that sound magical or what!
Cass’s love for Country & Western was met with Lara’s inner romantic when planning their celebration of lurve with wedding stylist Sheree from She Designs. “Sheree merged our two styles together and created the most amazing opulent rustic affair. Every little detail was so perfectly styled. Sheree and her team are complete magicians and extremely hard-working!” gushes Lara.
The two viewed just one other venue before deciding on Broger’s End in Kangaroo Valley. The organic, woodsy vibe was the perfect place for Cass and Lara to tie the knot. A cute addition was the freshly mowed aisle right down the forest green field.
“As soon as we picked this venue, we knew that we wanted a ceremony in the paddock,” chimes Lara. “It rained the whole day in the lead up to the ceremony and then 30 minutes before the ceremony the rain cleared and we were surrounded by ambient and moody clouds.” The lovebirds travelled in style, arriving in a fully restored 1965 Chrysler Safari wagon decorated in a rustic fresh floral wreath by incredible floral stylists Mikarla Bauer from Wilderness Flowers and Jardine Botanics.
A day effortlessly snapped by Dan O Day was the perfect choice. Lara is a super talented photographer herself and stepping away from behind the lens was a new experience, but a welcomed one. “We did a portrait session with our photographer the day prior to our wedding and it was really nice to be forced away from the setup of the wedding, have some time to spend with each other and capture some beautiful photographs,” shares Lara.
“Also, Bree and Brooke from Light Noise Films completely blew us away with the most beautiful video. Both these girls are so incredibly talented and such a joy to be around!”
Cass wore a custom-made linen shirt with floral embroidery details and $7 vintage pants – which the two decided was definitely the best score of the entire wedding!
And it’s safe to say we are more than a little obsessed with Lara’s floral embroidered dress. Having spent months and months searching for the perfect gown, Lara worked closely with Coral from Corston Couture, to create this absolute masterpiece. Yep, we have serious heart eyes for this one of a kind wedding gown. ?
“We were extremely lucky to have two incredible florists combine forces on our wedding day. Both Mikarla and Jardine effortlessly pulled off the most incredibly beautiful floral installations, table arrangements, bouquet and boutonniere.” The sweetest delicate flower crowns, incredibly luscious floral installations and gorgeous table arrangements gave the day’s festivities a seriously cool, earthy look.
“I especially loved the beautiful flower crown station they set up for our guests to accessorize with before the ceremony, it was amazing walking down the aisle and seeing everyone with flowers in their hair,” reminisces Lara.
Every last detail was hand-picked by the event planner herself, Miss Lara. “Cass was great as she really let me take full control of everything but was always there when I needed her to bounce ideas with and make final decisions or to get things done.”
Tusker and Co designed and printed rustic enamel mug nametags and individual guest menus which were absolutely divine. They even created all of the signage for the day as well as the decadent dessert table cake labels.
The decadent grazing feast catered by Caterina Kangaroo Valley was a huge success. A generous spread of salamis, dried seasonal fruits, marinated olives and lashings of quince paste were staggered across tabletops and gave guests a delicious taster for what was to come.
Incredible main choices of slow roast lamb with hazelnuts and pomegranate molasses, Tuscan braised chicken served with wine and eggplant, plus a collection of roast root vegetables with honey and prune glaze left guests with happy bellies… We. are. drooling.
Oh and that cake! “Kashaya & Co created the most incredible dessert table complete with 9 cakes that got completely demolished by the end of the evening – it reminded me of a scene out of the Marie Antoinette Movie and they all tasted DELICIOUS!”
The wild west styled photo booth by The Photo Booth Guys gave guests a chance to capture the day in true Country and Western spirit. Decked out with cacti, taxidermy and even mountable horses!
Are you thinking of planning your wedding yourself? “Get a wedding planner!” Advises Lara. “Trust me, I think I completely underestimated how time-consuming planning an entire wedding from start to finish can be.”
And as for planning, Lara has a few hot tips there too. “I would highly recommend exiting before all of your guests depart. In hindsight, I would have preferred leaving the reception before all of our guests on a high note, rather than being the last two left behind. Also, the day goes exceptionally quickly so make sure to savour every moment – eat the food and the cake, drink and dance and get involved.”
Huge congratulations to the happy couple Lara and Cass on their magical wedding and all of the amazing vendors who made the day so perfect!
