Isa Catepillán’s Crochet Wedding Dress CollectionNov 02

Isa Catepillán

Isa Catepillán (pronounced ‘Ca-te-pee-yan’) is a self-taught textile artist, a slow-fashion designer and bespoke maker whose work speaks about feminine strength and it’s innate connection with natural processes.

Combining modern style with ancient technique, Isa, who was born in Chile and now lives in Australia, finds endless inspiration in her lineage of traditional weavers

In her own words: “I was creative from a very young age, but discovering my Indigenous heritage as an adult empowered me as a weaver to honour my purpose in life.

Isa transforms one stitch at the time, natural fibres that are kind to the skin and low in environmental impact, into unique designs that are fresh, comfortable and profoundly feminine.

Providing the most exquisite and sophisticated gowns as an alternative to the machine made fast-fashion dominating the industry.

The alchemy of transforming a single thread into an extraordinary handmade dress along with the number of hours she spends on each piece embeds so much love into it.

Her work transcends fashion as each gown is more like a timeless sculpture of wearable art.

Filled with romance, her custom-made, and ready-to-wear garments are lined in pure silk, providing an elegant contrast to the rich and luscious textures of the weave.

The simplicity of the process and the complexity of its execution coexist to give life to a dress that will realize any bride’s dream.

The most interesting thing about Isa’s creative process is that whilst it is completely intuitive, it is also very precise at the same time.

To develop your design, for Isa it is essential to connect, hear your story and the vision of your perfect garment.

In order to have excellent results that work long-distance, she has created a method in which she will be in contact with you during the process of co-designing and making.

Isa will also explain how to measure your body precisely. You are invited to connect for an initial no-obligation, free consultation.

Each piece can take up to 6 weeks to be designed and made, so a minimum number of orders can be completed per year. These slow processes that value every detail, contain within them the genuine desire to provide comfort and elegance for women who honour their own authenticity.

Barefoot at Broken Head

At the end of a single stretch of sand, your guests look to the north to the most easterly point of Australia – the Byron Bay Lighthouse. There is salt in the air, eucalypts crowded thick over the hills, and waves rolling in from the point.

After the ceremony, the guests walk a minute over the sand dunes through a simple back gate to reveal the minimal Balinese-inspired masterpiece that is Barefoot at Broken Head.

The huge central living pavilion opens up through accordion doors to the tropical garden and huge decks in which are set four other buildings, where the families and couples that are staying can have perfect privacy when they desire, and huge common areas when they would like to commune.

There are five luxury bedrooms and a separate kitchen and dining area overlooking the pools where you can watch the kids frolic in the 30cm deep reflection pool or dive deep into the 20m lap pool, both set in golden sandstone.

In the days before and after your reception have relatives or friends to stay, ride the bikes along the beach at low tide, or drive 10 minutes into town to enjoy Byron’s restaurants. With the sound of the sea from your bed and a world-class point break a minute from your room – this is the ultimate Australian beach house.

Co-ordinators love weddings at Barefoot at Broken Head because it’s all here – no need to organise a professional kitchen, bathrooms, electricity, decorations, cool room, marquees, public liability insurance, gate attendant, rubbish removal or indoor/outdoor ceremony options. All this is included in the reception fee.
