The Fig Tree Gets A Fresh New LookOct 18

Fig Tree, Byron Bay Wedding Venue - Ivy Road Photography - Honeywed

Byron Bay’s most sought-after wedding venue has just had a facelift! Perched atop a hill, the Fig Tree is blessed with the most stunning panoramic views of Byron Bay, with the ocean, Julian Rocks and the iconic Lighthouse as a backdrop. A breathtaking venue, made even more striking, by its luxe new look, the Fig Tree combines its humble beginnings with a fresh, classic take.

The Fig Tree’s upscaled appearance conveys a modern, inviting and sophisticated feel due to the chic neutral colour palette used throughout, as demonstrated by The Wedding Shed and Bower Botanicals, who have worked their magic in this gorgeous shoot, to show us just how divine this venue looks when set up for a special occasion.

You can still expect to experience the same high quality of food and service the Fig Tree is renowned for. Che Devlin, the owner and his team of talented international chefs continue to bring their influences together from around the globe to create amazing dishes that are sure to impress. Whether you’re after fine dining with a carefully curated tasting menu or something more relaxed with food bars and feasting tables, there’s an option to suit any style of occasion.

With different options to hold your ceremony, a romantic outdoor dining setting underneath a historic 150-year-old fig tree, award-winning food and service, a gorgeous wet weather backup plan (no need to hire a marquee), and onsite accommodation large enough for the entire bridal party or immediate family; it’s no wonder the Fig Tree is such a popular place to say ‘I do’.

Imagine exchanging vows underneath a 150-year-old fig tree with views of Byron Bay and the ocean as your backdrop at this elegant and romantic Boho Luxe ceremony setup as styled by The Wedding Shed for this recent ‘Coastal Romance’ shoot, which was produced in collaboration with local legends, Byron Bay Weddings.

We love the dreamy tablescape full of subtle pink and purple pastel hues and green succulents setting the ideal tone for a romantic summer soiree. Soft, delicate floral details by Bower Botanicals combined with glimmering rose quartz (the ‘crystal of love’) and amethyst crystals encompass a whimsical, luminous atmosphere. Combined with unique barnacle clusters and crystal elements tying together the ocean and earth, resulting in a feeling of effortless luxury.

The lush, green rolling hills that surround Byron Bay makes the perfect backdrop for incorporating white decor and distinctive, colourful textures. Which is great news because The Wedding Shed has recently expanded their range to include plenty of neutral furniture options that can really help transform a venue space and make it a breeze for styling.

And we are just loving the gorgeous barnacle clusters and crystals which The Wedding Shed also now have available for hire. Because it’s individual details and textures like these that really bring that extra wow factor to your wedding day.

Barefoot at Broken Head

At the end of a single stretch of sand, your guests look to the north to the most easterly point of Australia – the Byron Bay Lighthouse. There is salt in the air, eucalypts crowded thick over the hills, and waves rolling in from the point.

After the ceremony, the guests walk a minute over the sand dunes through a simple back gate to reveal the minimal Balinese-inspired masterpiece that is Barefoot at Broken Head.

The huge central living pavilion opens up through accordion doors to the tropical garden and huge decks in which are set four other buildings, where the families and couples that are staying can have perfect privacy when they desire, and huge common areas when they would like to commune.

There are five luxury bedrooms and a separate kitchen and dining area overlooking the pools where you can watch the kids frolic in the 30cm deep reflection pool or dive deep into the 20m lap pool, both set in golden sandstone.

In the days before and after your reception have relatives or friends to stay, ride the bikes along the beach at low tide, or drive 10 minutes into town to enjoy Byron’s restaurants. With the sound of the sea from your bed and a world-class point break a minute from your room – this is the ultimate Australian beach house.

Co-ordinators love weddings at Barefoot at Broken Head because it’s all here – no need to organise a professional kitchen, bathrooms, electricity, decorations, cool room, marquees, public liability insurance, gate attendant, rubbish removal or indoor/outdoor ceremony options. All this is included in the reception fee.
