Simplicity rang true for Allie and Nathan’s Babalou Beach wedding – combining “natural beauty with hints of sweet romance.” The coastal setting was chosen by virtue of its special place in the couple’s hearts and “beautiful energy.”
The perfect example of less is more; a rustic dark wood arbour complimented the calming ocean backdrop, draped with a breezy macramé hanging. Elaborate arrangements of native blooms in deep burgundy and fuschia cascaded from fresh, leafy foliage by Rose Apple Flowers. Intricately crafted bouquets and flower crowns laced with lush greenery and blush florals shone vibrancy upon the minimalistic setting.
Timber benches lined the sand, with Allie’s mum’s favourite tambourine sitting front row – “a reminder of my love for her and her presence on the day.”
Elina Valttila kept makeup simple with neutral shadows and glowing natural tones, also fashioning a striking side braid hairstyle to complete Allie’s beachy look. Allie’s Grace Loves Lace wedding dress created amazing silhouettes with it’s low slung back and daring neckline, bohemian trail and tight fitting design. Exquisite shoes by Forever Soles embellished with delicate gold jewels were chosen as the bride’s statement piece, embracing a free-spirited vibe.
As sweet breezes whispered, fusions of hibiscus, calendula and rose petals were thrown. Leaving fragrant aromas mixing with the sand, dried herb confetti harmonised natural elements of earth and sea; following Celebrant Cara Gallagher of Modern Love Ceremonies classic officiation of the ceremony.
The coastal affair continued onto Kingscliff’s Babalou. Boasting a light-filled reception, Babalou seamlessly set up the elaborate room with the professional excellence of Love Struck Weddings coordination assistance and catered the night’s delicious food and beverages. “Everyone had champagne to toast” and simple white and mint dishes, extravagant peacock chairs and bountiful blooms gave the space a tropical vibe. “You felt the love in the room” as candles flickered and danced atop tables, rose quartz and amethysts scattered loosely between guests and Allie’s favourite love poems spread around the room. A floral embellished wedding cake by ‘Dot & Roy’ drizzled with caramel took centre stage as the evening came to a close.
When discussing budgeting, prioritise offers Allie. “Decide which aspects of your wedding are most important to you” and then filter down to the areas you find less necessary. Opting not to have a videographer, choosing to use Paperless Post’s e-invites and creating their own wedding playlist for entertainment, “these little things ended up saving us heaps!” Wedding photography by Carly Brown Photography effortlessly captured the day’s story with creative imagery, complimenting Allie and Nathan’s old-school home video perfectly.
Allie’s advice to future brides?
“Take a moment during your wedding night for just you and your husband, go outside soak in the magic of the day and make a wish upon a star.” Having been there herself, Allie reminisces that it’s easy to get caught up in planning your wedding. “Have a special night before your wedding to celebrate your engagement… Enjoy the sweetness and romance of being engaged.”
